The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Shaktikanta Das to be reappointed as Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for three years.
The reappointment is valid from December 10, 2021 or until an additional order is placed, whichever comes first, until the ACC is announced.
Das, former Treasury Secretary, became the 25th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India on December 12, 2018.
Shortly before his current role, he was a member of the 15th Finance Commission and the G20 Sherpa in India. During his 38-year career, Das held key positions in central and state governments in areas such as finance, tax, industry, and infrastructure.
