Supply Crunch in the World’s Most Consumed Edible Oil

Palm oil production in Malaysia is on track to its weakest performance in five years as producers face the worst labor shortage in the second largest producer and low yields are likely to continue through March.

Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob gave a glimmer of hope regarding the labor shortage, saying on Friday that the country will allow fully vaccinated migrant workers to enter the plantation industry on a case-by-case basis. Although the fee and arrival dates have not been decided.
