TCS lands Passport Phase-2 deal worth Rs 6,000 crores

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has won the Passport Seva Programme of the Ministry of External Affairs. The deal is estimated to be worth between 6,000 – 8,000 crores.

TCS won the initial deal in 2008 when the Passport Seva Programme was launched to convert the passport services into a digitized process. TCS transformed the entire process from application to delivery wherein it set several benchmarks in timeliness, transparency and reliability.

“In the next phase of the programme, TCS will refresh existing facilities and systems, and develop innovative new solutions to enable the issuance of e-passports. It will further enhance the experience of citizens by using technologies such as biometrics, artificial intelligence, advanced data analytics, auto-response, natural language processing, and the cloud.” the company said.

In other news, TCS said in an exchange filing that it would consider a fourth buyback proposal in its Board Meeting on 12th January, wherein it did not disclose any details like the size and timing.
